Coatings for McKinney Floors

McKinney is big enough to hold almost every kind of floor job. Established neighborhoods have garages that have seen decades of use, new east-side communities have fresh slabs, and the downtown and business corridors have retail, office and restaurant floors.

Requests from McKinney lean a little more toward decorative work than in Princeton: metallic game rooms, coated home gyms and showroom floors, as well as the classic flake garage.

Local notes

McKinney's Story

McKinney became the county seat of Collin County in 1848, and both the city and the county are named for Collin McKinney, a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The historic courthouse on the square, built in 1875, now houses the McKinney Performing Arts Center.

Today the city is one of the largest in the region, as the Census Bureau's QuickFacts for McKinney show, and its eastern edge now meets Princeton's newest neighborhoods along US 380.

McKinney Homes and Their Floors

Older McKinney homes often have garages with oil stains, painted floors or hairline cracks from years of Blackland clay movement. Those slabs need thorough grinding and repair, then a flake coat to give them a fresh look.

Newer homes on the east side are much like Princeton's: clean slabs, attached garages and owners who want the floor done before move-in. Bonus rooms and home offices on concrete are popular places for metallic finishes.

Planning Your McKinney Floor

If the garage was painted or sealed before, say so on the estimate request. Old coatings have to be removed completely and that affects time and price.

For decorative rooms, gather photos of floors you like and note the room's light. Windows and sun change how a metallic floor reads.
