FAQ

Epoxy Flooring Questions, Answered

The questions Princeton homeowners and businesses ask most, grouped by topic.

New Slabs and Timing

How long after the pour can new concrete be coated?

At least 28 days is the usual minimum, confirmed by a moisture test.

Can I coat my garage before moving in?

Yes, if the slab is ready and you have access after closing. An empty garage is the easiest to coat.

What is a curing compound?

A spray some builders apply to help concrete cure. It has to be ground off before coating.

Do new slabs have cracks?

Many show hairline shrinkage cracks. They are normal and are filled during preparation.

The Coating Itself

What is the difference between epoxy and garage paint?

Epoxy is a two-part coating that bonds into ground concrete. Paint dries on the surface and lifts more easily.

What is better than epoxy for a garage floor?

Many systems pair an epoxy base with a polyaspartic or polyurea topcoat for UV resistance and faster cure.

What is the downside of epoxy flooring?

Poor preparation or a damp slab can cause peeling, and gloss finishes can be slippery when wet without grit.

How long does an epoxy floor last?

With good preparation and care, many years. The topcoat can be refreshed as it wears.

Finishes and Looks

Which finish hides dirt best?

Full-broadcast flake in a medium gray or tan blend.

Can I have metallic epoxy in a garage?

You can, but it shows dust and tire marks more. Most people choose it for living spaces.

Can a floor have two colors?

Yes. Borders, zones and contrasting flake blends can be planned.

Care and Use

How do I clean a coated floor?

Keep grit swept up and mop with warm water plus a gentle, pH-neutral floor cleaner.

Can I park on it right away?

No. Foot traffic comes first and cars a few days later, depending on the products.

Will hot tires damage the floor?

A well-bonded system with a quality topcoat resists hot-tire pickup.

Estimates and Service

Is the estimate free?

Yes. It is free, written and carries no obligation.

What areas do you serve?

Princeton and its neighborhoods, plus McKinney, Farmersville, Lavon, Lucas and Wylie.

When can I call?

Any day of the week, between 9 in the morning and 7 at night.

Do you price floors over the phone?

Photos and an approximate size help, but the slab's condition is what decides the price, so it is checked before a final number.
